ISAF committed to Afghan stability: Dunford

ISAF committed to Afghan stability: Dunford

Jul 19, 2013 - 13:10

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): The International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon) on Friday vehemently condemned the killing of eight Afghan workers on their way to a US military base in central Logar province.

On Thursday morning, The Talibaninfo-icon forced the workers from their vehicle and then executed them on the outskirts of Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital.

"This senseless and brutal killing of eight innocent men is unconscionable and barbaric.  They were simply on the way to work to provide for their families," said Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, the ISAF commander.

While expressing his deepest sympathies to the victims’ families, he said the NATOinfo-icon-led force remained committed to bringing peace and stability to Afghanistaninfo-icon.

“The oppression, fear, murder and intimidation campaign of the Taliban has no place in Afghanistan's future," he said in a statement from the multinational forces.
