Terrorism, Afghanistan on agenda in upcoming NATO FM meeting

KABUL (Pajhwok): NATOinfo-icon foreign ministers were scheduled to meet on March 31 in Brussels to discuss range of issues including situation in Afghanistaninfo-icon and fight against terrorism, the alliance said on Tuesday.

A NATO official in Afghanistan told Pajhwok Afghan News there would be no dedicated meeting in Resolute Support format at this meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers.

 

Ministers may certainly raise Afghanistan and the Resolute Support Mission during discussions foreseen on projecting stability and fighting terrorism.

 

Before this meeting was scheduled for April 5, but NATO source said, In terms of the date change, there were some scheduling issues.

 

The Secretary General discussed this with US Secretary Tillerson in Washington last week and all 28 allies agreed to move the date forward to ensure that all of them could attend. Source added.

 

This would be an important meeting as it’s the last ministerial before the meeting of NATO leaders on May 25.
