Aminullah Amarkhel quits as Ghazni police chief

Jul 02, 2017 - 13:37

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has accepted the resignation of the police chief for southern Ghazni province.

Brig. Gen. Aminullah Amarkhel told Pajhwok Afghan News he was unable to continue his job on medical grounds and thus wanted to be relieved.

His resignation, which had landed in the ministry some months ago, was approved on Saturday, Gen. Amarkhel added.

“I apologise to all youth, ulemainfo-icon, womeninfo-icon and inhabitants of Ghazni if their rights have been trampled on during my tenure,” the outgoing police said.

In a formal statement, MoI said Amarkhel’s resignation had been approved and Lt. Col. Mustafay Mayar had been appointed as acting police chief of Ghazni.

Mayar earlier served as crime branch chief of the 303th Spinzar Zone.
