2 men involved in target killing detained in Ghazni

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Two former Afghan Local Police (ALP) members involved in targeted killings have been detained in southern Ghazni province, an official said Sunday.

Acting Ghazni police chief, Col. Mustafa Mayar, told reporters on Sunday that the two former ALP members were joined the Talibaninfo-icon militants about a year ago.

“The two men were directed by Taliban to work with ALP, they rejoined the militants and then started targeted killings in the capital of Ghazni province,” he said.

After tireless search, the murderers were detained by police in Ghazni city on Saturday, Mayar added.

However, he did not share identities of the detainees with the media.

He said that a person who was taking weapons from police and then handing them over to Taliban was also arrested.

“A person named Azizi Ahmad was selling drugs on police in exchange of weapons, and then he was giving those weapons to the Taliban,” he said.

The detainees would be taken to judiciary organs very soon, Mayar concluded.
