Minister inaugurates development projects in Bamyan

BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Rural Rehabilitation and Development Minister Naseer Ahmad Durrani on Sunday put into service some projects after being completed and also inaugurated work on others in central Bamyan province.

Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News in an exclusive chat that he inaugurated construction work on a more than one kilometer long road passing in front of the Buddah’s statues at a cost of $2.5 million.

He inaugurated two schemes of drinking water and said his visit to Bamyan was aimed at evaluating projects concerning his ministry.

The minister said a 13-kilometre long clean drinking water supply pipe, costing six million afgahnis and benefiting 250 families, was also put into service in the center of Bamyan.

Another water supply scheme, costing 14 million afghanis and passing through a 28-killometer area, would be completed in the next three months and would benefit 550 families.

Durrani said in his speeches that the two projects could provide job opportunities lasting 900 days for residents of the area besides providing them water and sanitation facilities.

The minister announced four million afghanis to improve the production sector in Bamyan in cooperation with trader union and 24 million afghanis for the handicraft industry.
