32 militants killed in Ghazni, Kapisa incidents

GHAZNI/MAHMOD RAQI (Pajhwok): Local officials on Saturday at least 32 Talibaninfo-icon militants have been killed during clashes with Afghan forces in southern Ghazni and central Kapisa provinces.

Ghazni governor’s spokesman, Mohammad Arif Noori, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Taliban militants launched a coordinated attack on security posts in Shahbaz Khan area of on the outskirts of the capital of the province Friday night.

He said 10 militants were killed and three others wounded in Afghan forces retaliatory attack. The bodies of three Taliban fighters still remained in the incident scene.

Around a week and half ago, 10 policemen were killed when the militants stormed the same post.

Noori did not provide information about Afghan forces casualties but said the Taliban were pushed back after air force was arrived.

However, a resident of the area, Abdullah, said the clash begun on 10pm and continued until 3am.

“We could not sleep entire night, when we went out of home in the morning we saw an empty police post caught fire,” he said. Afghan forces might also suffered casualties.

Taliban confirmed the attack. The group’s spokesman, Zabiullah Mujahid said the security post in Shahbaz Khan area was captured by militants last night.

He said 12 policemen and one Taliban fighter were killed and seven other policemen wounded during the attack.

According to another report, 22 militants were killed in Kapisa province.

Provincial police spokesman, Mohammad Ayub Yousufzai said Afghan air forces targeted Taliban in Shator area of Tagab district late on Friday.

He said 22 militants were killed in the incident. Niamatullah, a resident of the area also confirmed the attack.

But Taliban did not comment yet on the incident so far.
