Afghan govt denounces deadly attack on Egypt mosque
KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Saturday vehemently denounced a deadly attack on a mosque
in Egypt.
At least 235 worshippers including women and children were killed during Friday prayers in a bomb and gun assault on a packed mosque in North Sinai province.
The bomb ripped through the Rawda mosque, about 40 km west of the North Sinai capital of El-Arish, before gunmen opened fire on those gathered for prayers.
In a statement from his office, President Ghani said his government condemned the assault in the strongest terms.
Having suffered terrorist attacks for the past several decades, the Afghan nation understood the pain of the victims’ families, he said.
The president called for concentrated global efforts to eliminate the menace of terrorism threatening the world.
